INTERN ADVENTURES IN CHICAGO
Our wonderful interns, Natalie and Shelby, tagged along on a creative trip to Chicago. Between meetings and shoots, restaurants and sightseeing, we kept them busy and inspired… and we snapped pictures all the way. What inspired them? The amazing doors we found everywhere in the city, endless rows of props for photoshoots and the amazing staircase in our hotel. We sure will miss them when they leave us to finish school this fall.

CURRENT OBSESSIONS

We don’t always play favorites, but when we do we pick the best. The beloved few can be described as functional, fun and affordable to say the least. From a nailhead-trimmed ottoman to a flatweave rug, these picks are an inspiring group we just can’t get enough of right now. So take a look… we have a feeling you’ll love them just as much (probably more than) we do.

INSPIRED BY: OUR SUMMER INTERNS
Our summer interns have great summer style. Not only are they smart interns, they’re also little fashionistas. How could you not be inspired? With chic looks like these, we just had to create rooms around them.

Shelby rocks 1950s flair with lots of personality. We pulled soft neutrals and a lace bolster pillow with pops of blue to mirror her look. Natalie’s blossoming dress, modern black jacket and slick-back hair pairs modern edge with a little femininity. Natalie’s look made us think glass accents, straight-lined furniture and plenty of florals. Both are refreshing looks for summer (in fashion and home décor), right?

LIFE’S A JOURNEY
It’s the first day of summer and we’re all about family travels and so is our Interactive Marketing Manager, Terri.
My parent’s believed in doing things together as a family that meant lots of family vacations. The trials and tribulations of these vacations brought our family closer together and bonded us with shared memories that will last a lifetime.
One year we traveled by car with a camper on the back from North Carolina to Seattle, Washington.  At the time, I didn’t realize what a gift they were giving us. Listening to country music 24/7 (I still cringe when I hear a slide guitar), stopping at obscure locations to see the “sights”, discovering the great outdoors (rain or shine) and getting locked out of our car on more occasions than I care to remember were a few of the highlights of these trips.
When I look back on these adventures I don’t remember the nuisances, I remember how much fun my sister and I had discovering the bears in Yellowstone Park, trying to figure out how “Old Faithful” worked, exploring Bedrock City (Yabb-a-dabba-doo) and laughing as my dad sang sing silly songs to entertain us along the way.
Most of my favorite childhood memories come from vacations like that one. That’s why it’s so important to me to give these types of memories to my kids. I know that it makes families stronger and gives siblings memories to share long after their parents are gone.

While summer travels are on all of our minds, don’t forget to enter our Designed to Travel Pinterest Contest (ends this Sunday!). Bon voyage!
